Winter Driving Tips

Be prepared for winter driving conditions with the following tips and get to your winter wonderland in Whistlers Cove safely!

  1. Tires: Make sure your tires are filled to the manufacturer's specifications. Cold air (condensed air) will lower the pressure inside the tire causing it slightly deflate. If your tires aren’t siped or all-weather tires, consider investing in some studded winter tires. Always keep a set of chains for your tires in your trunk for emergencies.

  2. Lights: Be sure all your lights (headlights, tail lights, brake lights) are fully functional. If you are hauling a trailer ensure the electrical connection from the car to the trailer lights is functioning properly.

  3. Emergency Supplies: Shovel, Ice Scapper, Tire Chains, Blanket, Gloves, Jumper Cables, Flash Light, Knife, Emergency Flares or Markers, Charged Cell Phone, Water, Food & don’t forget to fuel up before you hit the highway.

  4. Route: If you haven’t been to Whistlers Cove before, download the map so you don’t have to struggle through zones with low/no service.

  5. Driving in on ice and/or in a storm: Drive Slowly (in a white-out snowstorm 20 mph or slower is recommended), DO NOT Tailgate, Turn on 4-Wheel Drive, Pull Over (if you are scared or feel that you are in danger, turn on your hazards lights, pull fully out of the way of other traffic, and pull over).
